TxtAid is an AI chatbot designed specifically to support the elderly patient population.
Many medical questions from patients today can be answered through search engines. However, significant barriers prevent elderly patients from accessing this information. Many seniors struggle to navigate the overwhelming number of search results, and even more concerning is the risk of encountering misinformation.


TxtAid aims to address this challenge by providing a user-friendly interface that mirrors the design of smartphone messaging apps. With TxtAid, patients can ask their medical questions in the familiar format of a text message, eliminating the need to carefully phrase their inquiries to get accurate answers online. This approach makes the experience feel as natural and intuitive as chatting with a loved one or a friend about their medical concerns.

Peizhe Lu
Peizhe (Peter) Lu, a recent graduate of the University of Michigan, developed a strong interest in healthcare accessibility through his experience as a scribe at a Medicare clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. There, he observed the significant barriers elderly patients face in obtaining timely and reliable health information. Inspired to make a difference, Peter founded TxtAid with the goal of bridging the gap between patients and the wealth of health resources available online. His mission is to provide a simple and accessible platform that empowers patients to easily access the answers they need, improving their healthcare experience.

Shruthi Ravindran
Shruthi Ravindran, a recent graduate of the University of Michigan, is a compassionate individual whose deep desire to help others originates from her time working as an EMT. During her experiences in emergency care, she witnessed firsthand the critical importance of timely access to healthcare information. This inspired her to join TxtAid, where she is dedicated to making health answers more accessible to those who need them most. With her empathetic approach and hands-on knowledge, Shruthi is committed to ensuring that TxtAid empowers elderly patients to easily access reliable health information, bridging the gap between uncertainty and the answers they seek.
